How much time do you spend brushing your teeth? If it isn’t much, you aren’t alone. Most people don’t spend anywhere near the time brushing that they should. After all, people are in a hurry to get out the door in the morning, and are thinking about heading to bed at night. So it isn’t surprising that brushing takes a back seat to the rest of the day?

You should spend at least two minutes brushing your teeth. You will be surprised at how effective brushing is when you spend the right amount of time cleaning your teeth. While at the minimum you should brush twice a day, it’s a good idea to brush 30 minutes after every meal. Hold your toothbrush at a 45-degree angle to your teeth, Clean the outsides and the insides of your upper teeth, followed by your lower teeth. To clean your front teeth, hold your toothbrush vertically. Make sure you clean the biting and chewing surfaces of your teeth, and don’t forget your tongue. You should floss your teeth at least once a day, but whenever possible, you should floss after each meal.

We can’t overstate the importance of brushing your teeth. It is one of the best things you can do to make sure that your smile remains healthy. But brushing alone isn’t enough. You also need to see your dentist twice a year for your regular cleanings and exams.
